Mr. Hughes is a Partner in the Advanced Planning & Family Office Practice Group at Handler Law, LLP. His practice is focused primarily in the areas of tax compliance and controversy, strategic business planning, business structuring, and family office planning. Mr. Hughes serves as a trusted and long-term advisor for his nationwide clientele by providing advanced, innovative and client centric solutions in his engagements.
Prior to joining Handler Law, LLP, Mr. Hughes was in private practice with locations in Warsaw, Indiana and Hinsdale, Illinois. His primary practice objective is to provide individual and business advanced planning solutions that represent global, best-in-class structures custom tailored to his domestic and international private clientele. His practice serves individuals of high and ultra-high net worth, as well as the working-wealthy alike. In addition, Mr. Hughes provides representation and counsel to individuals and businesses who are navigating IRS controversies at all stages of the process from initial audit notices through U.S. Tax Court resolution.
Mr. Hughes earned his Juris Doctor from the Florida Coastal School of Law with Moot Court honors. Thereafter, he earned a Master of Laws in Taxation degree with honors from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law. He graduated from the University of Montana with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Mr. Hughes is licensed to practice law in Illinois, Indiana and the United States Tax Court. He is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
