Introduction

Anthea Yuan is an associate in the Advanced Planning & Family Office Practice Group at Handler Law, L.L.P. Her practice is focused on taxation, and her experience includes tax planning, tax opinions, tax controversy and tax compliance. In addition, she has handled financial transactions, business & corporate law, estate planning, real estate and other transactional matters. She brings advanced technical training and a strong analytical background to advising private clients, affluent families and their businesses on complex domestic and international tax issues. Her experience in international taxation and transactions is extensive.

Anthea earned the Master of Laws in Taxation degree from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, graduating with Honors, and holds an International Tax Certificate and Public Service Program Certificate. She received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Minnesota Law School, where she gained early hands-on experience through the school’s Tax Clinic. She also holds a dual Bachelor of Arts in Law and Finance degree from Nankai University in Tianjin, China.

Her practice includes advising clients on business structuring, tax credits and cross-border and relocation-related tax considerations. Anthea is particularly skilled at translating complex tax concepts into practical, implementable strategies for clients. She is member of the Bar in New York, Illinois, California, the Northern Mariana Islands and Guam. She is also an IRS Enrolled Agent and has passed the CPA and CFA exams. She is a member of the AICPA and the CFA Institute. She is fluent in Mandarin and regularly assists Chinese-speaking clients, providing both legal and cultural insights in sophisticated tax and business matters.
